Nvidia's next generation of Turing CARDS were supposed to be laid out after the RTX 2060 SUPER, RTX 2070 SUPER and RTX 2080 SUPER were released, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Now it's not just the Turing architecture that's getting new members, it's even the SUPER family, and the new model is reportedly named GTX 1660 SUPER.

According to videocardz, its "source" at asustek's headquarters has received confirmation that the GTX 1660 SUPER will be available, and asustek is preparing a GTX 1660 SUPER videocard for its DUAL EVO, Phoenix and TUF3 product lines. GTX 1660 SUPER has the same number of CUDA units as GTX 1660, but the video storage rate is different. GTX 1660 SUPER is equipped with GDDR6 video storage with a rate of 14Gbps, which is twice as fast as GTX 1660. The video storage rate on GTX 1660 Ti is only 12Gbps, which is not as fast as that of GTX 1660 SUPER. However, if the number of CUDA units in GTX 1660 SUPER is less than that of GTX 1660 Ti, then GTX 1660 SUPER is still inferior to GTX 1660 Ti in terms of performance.

According to previous reports, AMD may launch two new gpus next month, Navi 12 and Navi 14, which are currently supported by the Mesa 19.2 Linux driver. Mesa 19.3 will launch RC1 on October 15, and not surprisingly, the full version will be released on November 5.

Navi 14, whose specs have already appeared in Compubench, has 24 CU units, 1,536 stream processors, and previously exposed test results show that it performs slightly better than the RX 570. The specification of Navi 12 is unknown. From the name of the core, it is a product between Navi 10 and Navi 14. The current RX 5700 has 36 sets of CU, so Navi 12 May have 32 sets of CU and 2048 stream processors.

So it's not hard to see why nvidia's new CARDS are designed to go head to head with AMD's new products. According to videocardz, the GTX 1660 SUPER is expected to be released next month, so it feels like nvidia is once again ahead of AMD in releasing the same tactics as the RTX 2060 SUPER and RTX 2070 SUPER sniper RX 5700 series. I don't know if AMD can get ahead of us this time.
